My Dream Playset
Hi! My name is Aiden, and I want to tell you about my Dream Book!
When I was 6 years old, I began telling my mom about my dreams. So, she gave me a notebook to draw or write about them. As far back as I can remember, I would visit a special place in my dreams to play. It was a huge green meadow where I talked to animals, practiced flying, and played to my heart’s content. I came to the meadow for many reasons—restlessness, stress—but mostly just for fun.
There was always one thing that never changed.
I’d be running through the grass, look up, and there it would be—towering, strong in the sun… My Playset.
A Redwood Playset in My Dreams
The playset in my dreams was always made of beautiful redwood, just like the deck beside our house. I would run straight to the true king of the playset—the slide!
Climbing the ladder, I would stand tall, looking out over my meadow. The slide seemed so high! I’d grip both sides, sit down, and zoom—sliding fast as lightning, sometimes tumbling into the grass, laughing. My body never moved fast enough for how excited I was to do it again… and again… and again.
The slide changed over time—some were bumpy, some spun you round and round, and some were very, very high!
The Ever-Evolving Fort
My dream playset always had a fort.
At first, my fort was below—I played school there and pretended it was my home. As I got older, my fort grew taller—it became the inside of a pirate ship, a rocket ship, and eventually, my hideaway, where I read and thought about life. I always loved standing on the upper deck, looking out across my dream meadow.

Oh, and the swings! The playset in my dreams would of course have swings. I would hop on a swing and begin to feel the sway of going up then back. Oh, what a feeling! It is the closest feeling to flying a kid can have, falling back, your legs spread out upon the sky, more like wings than anything. There were swings that went round and round, swings that went up and back, swings to stand on and even swings you got to swing with a friend!
Sometimes my playset would have new and different things to play on. It would have a sandbox to dig up things one night then the next night I would sell lemonade to all my friends! I loved it when it had a place to make mud pies, or a tic tac toe set to play with a friend. My favorite was the rock-climbing wall. I so loved the feeling of grasping a rock to pull my body up the wall step by step! Having the goal to make it to the top, then moving my hands and feet just right to step up top in triumph.
I am grown now, and the guys at Backyard Fun Factory perfectly created the playset from my dreams. It sits beautifully in my “backyard meadow” today. I have my own swing below the deck of our playset where I can relax and watch my kids living the dreams of my boyhood. The feeling is incredible! Yes, I still visit my dream meadow and yes, my giant redwood playset remains.
