Let Your Kids Help Decorate for The Holidays!
It’s time to decorate our homes for Christmas! Kids love to help, but it can be quite a frenzy with “No, no don’t touch that”, or “That doesn’t go there honey it goes here”, or how about “Let’s leave that alone please”, and don’t forget how many times you say, “Careful, Careful, baby that’s very breakable”! Oh boy, it can push that stress level up just thinking about it.
If you have a Backyard Fun Factory Playset, I have a great idea for you. Let the kids go outside and decorate it for Christmas! Everyone has a couple boxes of old Christmas decorations you haven’t used for awhile (maybe years) you can grab for the kids to use. If not, run by the local dollar store where, for under $20, you can usually get more than enough decorations for the kids to use. Here are some easy-to-do ideas.
Ideas for Letting Kids Decorate their Playsets
1. Remember those dorm room hooks you used in college? Place some of those around to hang some decorations where needed. Hang a wreath on the Fort Door!
2. Use Garlands! You can buy garland, use old garland, or even do some easy DIY garland the kids can have fun making. Some examples of DIY garlands are popcorn strung with needle and thread, or even the simple paper chains. Or have them decorate paper plates to look like different funny snowman faces using orange and black construction paper – some smiling, some surprised – the snowman mouths give them personality.
3. A great place to tape up various Christmas crayon sheet masterpieces would be inside the fort walls! You can also give them some old Christmas cards that have lovely Christmas themes to tape up where they would like.
4. The kids can make an Angel, or a Star for Christmas using paper plates and put it above the fort door. Or go ahead and let them have that old half-smooshed one you’ve been carrying around in a box, not using for far too long, because you now use one you love better anyway.
5. Let the kids take the lead! Let it be something THEY get to do. Depending on your children’s ages, that will determine how much help they will need.
“Fun is Our Middle Name”
Of course, there are so many things you and the kids can use to decorate their playsets. You can even go all out and give the kids a real Christmas thrill and hang Christmas lights on your play structure! Just being able to decorate their play space for the Christmas time would be exciting for most kids and it will bring the magical spirit of Christmas to your backyard.
