Christmas Playset
Twas only weeks before Christmas
At the Backyard Fun Factory Shop
Not a creature WASN’T Stirring up down or on top!
Each Playset Plan is hung on the wall with great care
As the Fun Bunch finds parts for that here and that there
Brackets and chains, redwood planks and cool swings
Slides, posts and screws, redwood decks and more things
The pieces were all counted all stacked up with care
In hopes that each playset soon would be there
They had found all the parts, prebuilt forts but no luck
All the parts that were needed wouldn’t fit on the truck
The factory door rolled up with a bang and a clatter
Their Jolly Ole Boss strolls in says, “Boys, What’s the matter?”
He stepped into the factory adjusting his sash
Took one look around, and understood in a flash
He glanced at the Fun Bunch their faces aglow
Amid piles of fun things row after row
He jumped in the truck drove off around back
Came back with the trailer said, “Now we’re on track”
As leader of the Fun Bunch, Jones just shook his head
With a smirk and a chuckle “you’re late” is all he said
The trailer was loaded quick as quick could be
They had many other playsets to deliver you see
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear
But hooked to the front bumper were 8 tiny reindeer!
They threw open the doors, all started to bail,
But then looked again – it was just a herd of whitetail!
The Jolly Boss driver, so funny and slick,
Laughed at them all – “Who do you think I am? Saint Nick?”
“We don’t need Rudolph our way to endorse
This truck has GPS that is plotting our course”
“Now get in the truck, shut the doors, and let’s go!
We only get to help Santa a few days, don’t you know!”
So out of the driveway the truck nearly flew,
With the trailer full of wood – slides and swings too.
In a twinkling to the first stop they pulled up and whoa’d,
The Fun Bunch jumped out and began to unload.
Like a swarm of elves, bustling about in a stir,
The Bunch throwing the playset up in a blur.
The Jolly Ole’ Boss watched them finish, smiled, and sighed,
“Great job guys – load up now, cause we’ve gotta Ride!”
“You know we have so much more building to do,
Drink coffee or power drinks – and retie your shoes!”
As they wrapped up each project, the Bunch yelled, “What next?!?”
Until finally the Jolly Boss shrugged, looking perplexed.
“We’ve finished them all, Boys, let’s go to the house –
It’s time to spend Christmas with the kids and the spouse.”
He sprung to the truck, to the Bunch gave a whistle,
And away they all drove, like the down of a thistle:
I heard them all exclaim, as they drove out of sight
“Merry Christmas, God bless you, and to all a good night.”
