Make an easy backyard water park!
It’s summer break and the heat is rising! Kids need to get outside and exercise those little muscles but it’s just soooo HOT! Water parks are anywhere from $17 to $25 per person. So for a family of 4 to go to the water park will cost you between $68-$100! And we aren’t counting food and drinks for the day. Yikes, and that’s for just ONE day of fun?!?
Let me show you how to have a water park in your own backyard! A great idea is to have backyard fun in the mornings and/or the evenings. During the hottest part of the day, the hours between 12-4 pm, the kids can stay inside for chore time and nap time. Here are some easy and relatively simple ideas your kids will have fun with everyday at home!
1. Sunscreen Dance Party
Getting kids to stand still for sunscreen can be a challenge. Turn it into a game by playing their favorite tunes and having them dance while applying sunscreen. Spray sunscreen works best for this playful routine, but lotion works too. Who can cover themselves the fastest while dancing to the beat?
2. Ice Treasure Hunt
Freeze small plastic toys in a bowl of water to create ice blocks filled with hidden treasures. Give the kids tools like spoons or small mallets to chip away and free their prizes. It’s a fun, cool activity that keeps them engaged while beating the heat.
3. Pool Noodle Sprinkler
Create a DIY sprinkler using a pool noodle and a garden hose:
Insert the hose into one end of the noodle and secure it with duct tape.
Use a skewer to poke holes along the noodle.
Seal the other end with foam or a small ball and tape it shut.
Turn on the water and watch the fun begin!
4. Sprinkler Swinging
Add a splash to your swing set by placing a sprinkler underneath. Kids will love swinging back and forth through the refreshing spray. It’s simple, exciting, and perfect for hot afternoons.
5. Water Balloon Target Game
Fill a bucket with water balloons and set up targets around your playset. Assign point values to each target, with higher points for harder hits. Kids can compete to score the most points—and if they miss, they have to pop a balloon on their head!
6. Water Hose Limbo
Hold a garden hose to create an arc of water for a limbo contest. Play the classic limbo song and see how low your kids can go. Adjust the water height to challenge players of all ages.
7. Squirt Balloon Challenge
Blow up balloons with air and give each child a water gun. The goal? Keep their balloon in the air using only their water gun. The last balloon floating wins!
8. Marbles & Toes Game
Scatter marbles in a kiddie pool and place a bucket nearby. Kids must grab marbles with their toes and drop them in the bucket. It’s a silly, engaging game that also strengthens little feet.
9. Slide into Summer Fun
If your Backyard Fun Factory playset includes a slide, place a small inflatable pool at the bottom for a splashy landing. It transforms the slide into a mini water park that brings excitement to every sunny day.
Use your playset to slide into your backyard pool!
A Backyard Fun Factory playset set under some shade trees is the best way to beat the heat and bring fun and exercise for your children this summer. Adding some water games will help to turn your backyard into an even cooler summer fun play park. Give us a call to start planning your dream playset today!
