Mud Pie Masters
Making mud pies, were some of my favorite memories as a kid. Oh, the feeling of mud squishing between my fingers! We loved pouring water into the soil to find the right consistency to form the best pie. My secret was to make the mixture make the sound “GLOP”, as I put my mixture into the pie pan with a big spoon. My Glops had the perfect mixture of soil and water to not dry too fast. Pies that dry too fast crumble. Yikes, how embarrassing.
I’m not sure how long it took me to perfect my mud pie recipe, but I know it was the beginnings of me learning so many important things…
- It’s ok, and really fun to get dirty!
- You should ask before only BORROWWWING Moms bowls, pans, and spoons. (you’re welcome)
- You can use all your senses with mud play. You can touch, see, hear, smell, and yes even taste mud. (Oh, come on, it’s not that bad)
- You learn to experiment with nature.
3 cups mud + 3/4 cup water= BEST MUD PIE. Oooo is that math?
EVERTHING, we use in our lives today, started just that simply
- Your “Mud Pie” memories will last a lifetime!
Fun is Our Middle Name
Kids just love mud! It sometimes starts slowly with a little mud dropping off their fingertips, but before long they begin creating. Eventually covered in mud with big grins, they will present their Mud pies, mud cupcakes, hamburger patties, and a mud steak for Daddy. Mud pie Masters in the making!
It’s mud Art! Sticks, rocks, flowers, bugs are all used to decorate their creations. It’s mud Invention. If you add grass clippings it helps to make a structure stronger. It’s mud Play. The socialization learned in playing and creating with friends is priceless.
Parents want to understand all the ways mud play is good for their children. Kids will just feel drawn to play in it. Especially if their parents encourage it and give them opportunities to do so. Just allow your kids to get dirty, and watch the learning begin!
