Cabin Fever
Today you hear a lot about kids getting Cabin Fever in the winter months. Guess what? Moms and Dads get cabin fever too!
It’s January, oh no! Thanksgiving and Christmas are over. In Texas, our cold weather has begun. We have started the time when kids are stirring around the house and making us all go stir CRAZY!
A fun thing you can do to pass the time away is to pull pranks on your kids. Here are a few great pranks in case you are too frazzled to think.
You know, make a sponge cake, (made of real sponges), or paint their soap with clear nail polish for a laugh, that is if you can handle smelly kids anyway.
Ooo ooo, put non-toxic food coloring in their bathroom faucet (a color tablet works best) and let them freak out when they see the color in the water.
Here’s a good one if your kids are deep sleepers. After they fall asleep move them around. You can put your son in your daughter’s room and your daughter in your son’s room. Or just lay them on the couch or bathroom floor.
Oh the oldy but a goody – Eat Bugs! Put raisins or craisins around the house then say “Oooh yummy, a bug” and eat it. This one does sometimes backfire on ya. Make sure your kids are old enough to be grossed out or your kid might have trouble making friends.
Fun is Our Middle Name
This one is a classic. You could wake the kids up early on a Saturday and tell them it’s a school day. After they get ready tell them the principal called and school was cancelled. This one is good for a pay back and a giggle.
Last, my personal favorite, Freeze their Breakfast. Just scramble some eggs, grab some link sausages and a biscuit, and freeze them. When they come to eat their breakfast listen to their grumbles and just laugh and laugh and laugh.
But seriously, Cabin Fever can be hard on everyone. There is no pool to swim in and not many sports activities going on. With snow and ice times on the horizon and school day cancellations, these kids need to have a reason to go outside.
Movement is key when experiencing cabin fever. It helps to release all the pent-up energy. And when dealing with kids, boy is there a lot of pent-up energy!
Our playsets are a perfect play area to have in their own backyards, and an incredible reason to visit outdoors. They will climb and stretch those muscles, slide, swing and laugh.
Besides, you really shouldn’t pick on your kids. (giggling)
