Powder Coating
We at Backyard Fun Factory are constantly thinking of ways to do more things within our factory and less out-sourced. That being said, our powder coating process has been in the works for a while now, but we are so happy to say that we are officially doing it all in house. We thought we would share our process with you.
When the pipes come in we first cut them down to the size we need for each accessory. After cutting them we bend any pipes that need to be bent to the correct angle for the job. Then we weld the attachments to the appropriate pipe. Once all the pipes are prepared we thoroughly clean each one, removing any dust or oil from the surface of the metal. This thorough cleaning allows the powder coating to attach itself to the metal with the best coverage.
Fun is Our Middle Name
Now that each accessory has been cleaned they are ready for powder coating. We place 5-15 pieces into the spray booth at a time and coat each piece with the powder coating. After assuring each bracket has been fully covered they are transferred to the oven rack. As soon as the oven rack is full we place them in the oven to bake for 25 minutes.
Once the brackets come out of the oven they will need to cool about 20 minutes before removing from the rack. As soon as they are cool enough we individually cover each piece in plastic to protect it from any dust or debris until it has had time to fully cure.
We are very proud to have this process be one of the many things we are able to do in our factory. Please see our Powder Coating video to watch how we do it.
